Clarissa Fortier, a New York City native, moved to Colorado in 2014 and has not looked back. A lover of the outdoors, she finds inspiration in the landscapes she explores, and her paintings reflect experiences and emotions present in the landscapes at a certain time.
Fortier’s paintings are born from long adventures outside in the sun, wind and snow. When she is not painting outside, the images she uses as inspiration are from places that she intimately knows. An environmentalist, Fortier does not see her paintings as existing in a vacuum. Rather, her paintings reflect landscapes that she believes to be more than aesthetically pleasing — landscapes that are significant geologically or culturally, and landscapes that are threatened and in need of conservation.
